Mondelez International has unveiled plans to establish a new manufacturing facility in Novosibirsk region, Russia, with an investment of $110m.

The company is pursuing its expansion plans in the region despite increasing geopolitical tensions, following Crimea's annexation into Russia.

To be handled by the company's Russian unit, the project is expected to add 180 new jobs to the region.

Mondelez International spokesman was quoted by Bloomberg as saying that the plant will produce 50,000 tons of snacks per year.

The facility will manufacture Jubilee, TUC and Barni biscuits, Alpen Gold, Milka and Vozdushnyy chocolate.

The investment is a part of the company's effort to improve its supply chain. The US firm aims to achieve savings of $1.5bn in net productivity and increase cash flow by $1bn over the next three years, added Mitchell.
