Stone Brewing, a beerUS-based brewery, has outlined plans to invest around $31m in South Carolina over the next five years, a move that would create 400 new jobs.

As part of the investment, Stone is planning to establish an East Coast brewery for distribution. The proposed brewery will house a beer garden and restaurant.

The investment is in line with a bill filed by Sen. Sean Bennett, R-Dorchester, and his co-sponsor Paul Campbell, R-Berkley to loosen restrictions on breweries in order to bring large craft beer operations to the state.

The bill is expected to increase brewpub brewing limit from 2,000 barrels to 500,000 barrels annually, as well as creating jobs and investment in the South Carolina economy.

South Carolina Brewers Association official John Bauknight was quoted by abcnews4.com as saying, "This is all about creating jobs."

Stone Brewing produces and sells craft and specialty beers. The company specializes in bold-flavored beers.
