Cermaq last week acquired two licenses for salmon production in region XII in Chile.

The licenses will increase the company’s production capacity by 4,000 metric tons (MT) annually when fully developed. The areas current production capacity in the region is 10,000 MT annually.

The licenses were purchased from Centauro for USD 2 million (EUR 1.44 million).

“This acquisition represents the first step to implement the strategy of increasing capacity in region XII in order to balance the production between the Chilean farming regions,” said Jon Hindar, CEO. “The longer term ambition will be to acquire additional licenses in the region XII with a total of up to 30,000 MT capacity per year.”
