The Ministry for Trade, Industry and Fisheries has decided to overturn the decision by the Directorate of Fisheries' expert group which rejected Cermaq’s applications for the green salmon licenses.

The company said it is now once again eligible for the new 45 green production licenses.

Cermaq had all its applications in Groups A and C rejected. It is the dismissal decision for group A which now has been processed and changed, but it must be expected that the same assessment will be made for group C.

The basis for rejection was lack of evidence of ability to pay for concessions. The applications from Cermaq’s farming company in Norway documented financial capability through presenting parent company guarantee from the company.

“It was expected, nevertheless satisfying, that the complaint was accepted. Now we are looking forward to a good and fast process in the expert group where companies are to compete on technical solutions that will contribute to sustainable growth in the Norwegian fish farming,” said CEO Jon Hindar.
