According to the Russian veterinary authorities, no new outbreaks of African swine fever have been reported in the country since March.
According to follow-up report no. 6 sent to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) on Monday, 12 May, the source of the outbreaks has still not been determined.
The last outbreak reported to the OIE was on 5 March 2014, where the affected population comprised wild boars. Carcasses of wild boars were found on the territory of the game husbandry "Fominskoye" near the village of Popovka.
Although no new outbreaks of ASF have been reported, the OIE and the Russian veterinary authorities have still out some control measures in place in order to prevent further outbreaks of the disease.
The control measures include control of wildlife reservoirs, quarantine, movement control inside the country, screening and isinfection of infected premises/establishment(s). No animals have been vaccinated and none of the affected animals have received any treatment.
