During week 19 (5 to 11 May), Morocco exported a total of 2,623 tonnes of tomatoes to the European Union (EU) at an average price of 0.565 €/kg, according to Andalusia's Council of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development.
Exports fell by 47% in volume and by 14% in value compared to the previous week.
The average price of entry into the EU for Moroccan tomatoes remained below the minimum established by the EU-Morocco Trade Agreement (€ 0.461/kg) until Thursday 8 May.
Within this period, the average price has oscillated between € 0.353 and € 0.418/kg. On Friday 9 May, prices increased, reaching an average of 0.48 €/kg.
Moroccan tomato exports to the EU up until 11 May have been estimated at 246,312 tonnes, 92% of the quota available for the 2013/14 period, which will end on 31 May.
