Emydex Tesoftware jobschnology, an Irish agri-food software company, has announced it will create 20 software jobs at its Dublin offices over the next 18 months.

Established in 2004, Emydex Technology develops factory-floor data capture, food production reporting and food traceability software for global food processing firms.

The Enterprise Ireland-backed technology firm's clients include the Kerry Group, Kepak and Moy Park.

The company also announced a new €300,000 two-year contract with the Meat Corporation of Namibia.

Working on behalf of Namibian farmers, the technology firm said the work would involve six separate sites in the African country.

Speaking on the announcements, Emydex Technology's chief executive David McMahon said, “Thanks to the solid growth in Irish food exports, there is a corresponding growth in demand for more sophisticated and robust software systems for production management, reporting and traceability.”

Alongside Ireland’s reputation for high-quality food processing, the country is also becoming better known for its “food processing software capabilities”, he explained.

The new hires – doubling the workforce - will work across Emydex’s three main operating divisions at its Dublin headquarters.
