The new site provides 70,000 square feet of production area for printed packaging films. This is two and a half times the capacity of the company’s previous premises, six miles away in Hortonwood which was in service for the last 13 years.
The new location has larger technical and testing laboratories and will provide pass-off and proofing facilities for customers. As part of the move, TCL installed an additional state-of-the-art Uteco Onyx press, the second in less than three years. A Rofin-Baasel laser scribing unit was also installed and commissioned to increase the range of capabilities on offer. The move is also expected to result in new jobs and apprenticeships in the region.
“The TCL team has been amazing” said managing director Mike Golding “It was all hands on deck for 48 hours in one weekend (5/6th July) and it’s impressive what good teamwork can achieve. We are now all looking forward to the next exciting stage in our company’s development.”
