Nebraska-based food company Con Agra Foods has recalled David Trail Mix Sweet & Salty flavor due to presence of undeclared ingredient – milk protein.

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the ingredient was not declared on the product's packaging and hence the company issued a voluntary recall, CDA News reported.

The product is made by ConAgra Foods' third party supplier, who is also issuing a voluntary recall separately for affected products.

The recall includes David Trail Mix Sweet & Salty products sold as part of multi variety packages that also contain DAVID Trail Mix Classic. David Trial Mix Classic, however, is not affected by this recall.

The recalled trail mix carries the UPC code 26200 23885 and was sold in 5 oz bags, reported Food Poisoning Bulletin.

The affected product was shipped to retail stores and distributors in the US and Mexico. The company is collaborating with retail customers and distributors to make sure that the packages are removed from stores.

The recalled product is of concern for those who are allergic to milk as they run a serious risk of life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.

ConAgra Foods came to know of the issue through a consumer complaint. The company has advised consumers who have purchased the product to either discard it or return them to the store of purchase.
