Egypt: Ismailia’s agricultural exports tops 276.5 mln dollars

Mr Khalil Mubarak, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture in Ismailia, reported that the total value of the Governorate's fruit and vegetable exports between January and November this year, which totalled 2,779,451 tonnes, has amounted to 276.5 million dollars. During the press statement, he said that these items have been mainly shipped to Arab countries and to destination within the European Union.

For his part, Dr Fathi Mahrous, head of agricultural marketing of the Directorate of Agriculture in Ismailia, reported that the export of agricultural products during November alone generated $ 34.7 million, with a volume of fresh fruit, frozen vegetables, field crops, medicinal and aromatic plants totalling 20,022 tonnes.

The items exported included peanuts, green beans, corn, frozen vegetables, frozen strawberries, frozen okra, onions, pomegranates and frozen guava, among many others. He explained that these products were exported to countries like Switzerland, the UK, Hungary, the Netherlands, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Sweden, Italy, Kuwait, Ethiopia, Oman, Tunisia, China and Russia.
