The Private Sector Investment program (PSI) is supporting Koppert Cress, a company that produces micro-vegetables, in starting a project in Kenya.

The project in Kenya is involved with growing fresh herbal tea for the high-end sector in the Dutch and European markets, including high quality restaurants. For this project Koppert Cress and the Kenyan company, The African Herb Company, have formed a Joint Venture.

Big incentive
After months of extensive testing and trials, the Joint Venture proposed four blends (infusions): lavender-mint, verbena-lavender, thyme-mint and verbena. Logistics and marketing for these 'infusions' takes a lot of time, money and effort, but the more research in this area that is done the more that is known about what is possible. Koppert Cress says that without the incentive from PSI this project would not have been possible.

Good example
This enterprise is a good example of a PSI project because it shows the successes and challenges of projects in developing countries.

Private Sector Investment program (PSI)
PSI is a grant program that supports innovative investment projects in developing countries. The program is not accepting new applications. For other funding opportunities you could contact the Dutch Good Growth Fund (DGGF). The Dutch National Office for Entrepreneurs manages the PSI and DGGF as directed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
