The Edgewood Locker in Edgewood, IA today announced a recall of approximately 207 pounds of beef sticks with cheese due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
Product would have been purchased from Edgewood Locker in Edgewood, IA or Greenwood Grocery in Farley, IA. The recalled product has a lot number 348 and was packaged on December 15, 2015. Product is packaged in 8 ounce or 2 pound package sizes.
The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship’s Meat and Poultry Inspection Bureau licenses and inspects these facilities to ensure the products are safe and the plants are following all mandatory requirements.

Edgewood Locker, Edgewood, IA is recalling approximately 207 pounds of beef sticks with cheese, lot number 348, packaged on December 15, 2015 for possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Product would have been purchased from Edgewood Locker in Edgewood, IA or Greenwood Grocery in Farley, IA. The affected product is identified on the label with a lot number 348 and a packaged on date of December 15, 2015. Product is packaged in 8 ounce or 2 pound package sizes.
Listeria is a pathogen found in the environment. The very young, elderly, and those who are immunocompromised are especially susceptible if they eat product contaminated with listeria. The problem was discovered through routine environmental testing conducted by Edgewood Locker. The Edgewood Locker has taken necessary precautions to control any additional product and will continue to evaluate and take necessary precautions. Edgewood locker continues to work with the state of Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship’s Meat and Poultry Inspection Bureau to address concerns of our customers.
