Red Lobster’s Ultimate Seafood Celebration and gift card offer is just one example of a U.S. restaurant chain that is going all out to promote dining on seafood for the holiday season.

Red Lobster, which operates 705 restaurants worldwide, is playing up special seafood dishes that the chain began offering as part of its Ultimate Seafood Celebration on 9 November. New dishes include the Grand Seafood Feast with stuffed Maine lobster tail, snow crab legs, scampi and hand-battered shrimp; the Ultimate Wood-Grilled Feast, which features a Maine lobster tail, two skewers of bourbon-glazed shrimp and sea scallops; and the Ultimate Surf and Turf, a lobster and crab-stuffed Maine lobster tail paired with an oak wood-fire grilled peppercorn NY strip steak.

“The Ultimate Seafood Celebration dishes feature some of our most popular seafood items – lobster, shrimp and crab – combined with intriguing new flavors that capture the essence of the season,” a Red Lobster spokesperson told SeafoodSource.

In addition, Red Lobster is running a “Give a Gift, Get a Gift offer” through Dec. 31, offering guests who spend $50 guests on gift cards a bonus card good for their choice of $10 off or a free appetizer coupon valid on a future visit in the month of January. This is a brilliant move, since January is typically the slowest month of the year for restaurants.

Bonefish Grill, which operates more than 200 restaurants, began its “12 Days of Bonefish Grill” promotion at the beginning of December. Every day, guests could redeem a coupon or receive some other special offer, such as “20 percent off dinner”.

National restaurant chains aren’t the only ones going all out with seafood promotions this season. Avo in New Orleans is offering a “Feast of the Seven Fishes” menu this month that features dishes such as Roasted Gulf Oysters topped with Prosecco Zabaglione and Fried Cuttlefish with Herb Aioli.

Likewise, Bricco Trattoria in Glastonbury, Conn., is also celebrating “Feast of the Seven Fishes on 15 December and 16 December with a special menu of Venetian Seafood Salad, Salt Cod and Potato Polpette, Charred Mediterranean Octopus, and Diver sea scallops.
