According to deputy speaker of the State Duma Alexander Zhukov, deputies of Russia's State Duma are planning to develop a bill to stimulate the program to substitute imports of foreign products with domestic agricultural produce.
A public survey revealed that one of the most popular choices was “improving the mechanism for withdrawing agricultural land from owners who are not using them for their intended purpose.”
While speaking to the Federal Assembly, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Nikolai Pankov, head of the Duma's Agricultural Committee, paid special attention to this area.
Import substitution and food security are two very important areas of focus, they said, adding that to the adopted budget for 2016, 237 billion rubles are to be allocated to these initiatives.
The funds are also intended for the development for Russian plant production as well as the construction of modern logistics facilities. During this season, vegetable producers, suppliers of seed potatoes and similar companies requiring modernization are to receive additional subsidies.
