Last year Thailand exported 3.7 billion U.S. dollars' worth of fresh, frozen and dried fruits and vegetables to major world markets, such as China, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Japan and the United States last year.
According to Malee Choklamlert, director general of the Department of International Trade Promotion, Thailand exported 1.6 million tons of fresh, frozen and dried fruits and vegetables with a combined value of 3.7 billion U.S. dollars, a 4.4 percent rise from a year earlier.
Other markets for the Thai fruits and vegetables included Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Australia, Choklamlert said.
Major fresh and frozen Thai fruits bound for export included durian, which secured nearly 4 million U.S. dollars mostly from Chinese markets, longan, mangosteen, canned pineapple, sweet corn, beans and fruit juices.
Remarkably, the Thai fruit and vegetable exports grew by 166 percent in Laos, 66 percent in Myanmar, 63 percent in Iran and 34 percent in Cambodia, she added.
