Sigma Sales has partnered with Pablo Borquez to become the exclusive distributors for the Melo and Don Poncho label table grapes grown in Mexico.

Mike Smith, president of Sigma Sales, said he is proud to have partnered with the Borquez family and looks forwarding to representing their grapes, which are the first table grapes grown in the Obregon region.

“This new area is ideal due to plentiful, pure water and favorable conditions overall. The weather this year has been good, with enough chill hours to ensure a good dormancy“

Early Sweets are slated to start shipping the first week of May from the Yaqui Valley 160 miles southeast of the established spring grape-growing areas of Hermosillo. Following the Early Sweets, Sigma will be shipping Melo label Flames and Sugraones from the Caborca region May 20th through June. All of SIGMA grapes are fully Global Gap certified, including Fair Trade and Social Responsibility by SCS Global.

SIGMA Sales handles a full line of fruits and vegetables from the Sonora and Sinaloa regions in the winter, and then from their Los Angeles office and “Brother Best” label growing operations in Santa Maria during the summer. The Pablo Borquez family was an early pioneer of what today is the Yaqui Valley in Ciudad Obregon, and the first growers to produce asparagus and table grapes there. The family has created a foundation which today supports thousands of kids and adults in surrounding rural areas.
