The newly established Fangchenggang City Fruit Entry Port is expected to unload 3,000 TEUs of imported fruits in 2016, which will bring more affordable yet high quality fruits from ASEAN.

Based on the previous practice, in order to import from Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries to China, all the transports have to pass either Mengla port in Yunnan province or Pingxiang port in Guangxi province by land route, or they can choose to enter harbours in Guangzhou or Shanghai city by shipment. Both routes are costly and time consuming. After the establishment of this new fruit entry port, the inspection and customer clearance time are shortened. For example, the imported fruit express SITC HAKATA from Ho Chi Minh to Fangchenggang only took 3 hours to complete all the formalities and clearance.

As the first fruit entry port in Guangxi province, Fangchenggang port not only takes initiatives in building the fruit import express lanes, but also aims to expand its fruits import regions. In the future, the local port transport group will consider shipping imported fruits through rail cold chain logistics across the whole country, which will further reduce the regional logistics cost of imported fruits and thus bring more benefits to domestic consumers.
