Maersk Line is introducing a weekly direct service to Salalah, Oman from where goods can be moved to the Middle East and West Coast swiftly and in a cost effective manner.

The maiden vessel will depart from Krishnapatnam Port on April 17 (Sunday) and reach L&T Kattupalli Port in Chennai on Monday. It will reach Oman in three days. Further, it would take 28 days to reach the U.S. east coast.

“Earlier, goods have to be shipped to Colombo and then to east coast. The new service will reduce transit time by at least three days and also minimise the cost. Three days might look very small. But, it will make a huge difference to those ferrying fresh fruits/vegetables or processed food items, which have shorter shelf life.” said
Captain Sriram Ravi Chander, Executive Director, Krishnapatnam Port Company Ltd.
