EU: Increase in the supply of apples and pears

Most of the fruit, a total of 897.5 thousand tonnes, was stored in Italian chambers, followed by 804 thousand tonnes in Poland, 345.6 thousand tonnes in France, 227.4 thousand tonnes in Germany and 145.5 thousand tonnes in the Netherlands. The most common varieties in storage are the Golden Delicious, with more than 901.0 thousand tonnes, the Idared, with 260.7 thousand tonnes, and the Jonagold, with almost 208.0 thousand tonnes.

In the case of pears, the European Union had 459.6 thousand tonnes stored on 1 March, compared to the almost 430.0 thousand tonnes of the corresponding day last year. Most pears were stored in Italy, with 146.0 thousand tonnes, followed by Belgium, with about 130.0 thousand tonnes and the Netherlands, with 109 thousand tonnes. The most common pear varieties in storage are the Conference, with 328.8 thousand tonnes, and the Abate Fetel, with about 74.0 thousand tonnes.
