US-based food company Foster Poultry Farms has recalled around 220,450 pounds of fully cooked frozen chicken nuggets over possible presence of foreign objects such as blue plastic and black rubber materials.

The company has announced voluntary recall as they could lead to choking.

Produced on 22 February 2016 and 8 March 2016, the fully cooked frozen chicken breast nuggets were subject to recall after the company received several consumer complaints and notified the FSIS on 29 April 2016.

The products which are included in the recall carry the establishment number "P-33901" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Recalled items include 5-lb. bags of FOSTER FARMS "Breast Nuggets - Nugget Shaped Breaded Chicken Breast Patties with Rib Meat." The bags carry 'best by' dates of 2/21/17 and 3/8/17.

10-lb. bulk boxes of FOSTER FARMS "Fully Cooked Breast Nuggets - Nugget Shaped Chicken Breast Patties with Rib Meat Fritters" have also been recalled. These boxes contain package code 6053 and 6068.

These items were shipped to distributors in Alaska, Arizona, California, Utah, and Washington state.

There have been no illnesses or injuries reported linked to the consumption of the recalled products.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled items have been advised not to consume them and to either discard them or return at the store of purchase.

Foster Poultry Farms has said that the issue is the result of an isolated incident pertaining to one specific production line at its Farmerville facility, involving 5,563 cases.

On its website, the company has stated: "Food safety is, and has always been, our top priority and we are vigilant in employing the most up-to-date safety measures to produce wholesome, healthy and delicious food products.

"Foster Farms has formed a Food Safety Advisory Board comprised of leading national food safety experts to validate best practices, evaluate emerging technologies and to help guide the company's food safety systems on an ongoing basis."
