"In our particular case, we have 50 hectares devoted to blueberries, which for now are only for domestic consumption, but we are planning to double our acreage in order to be able to start exporting. The most exported varieties are still the largest in terms of size, such as the Biloxi, the Emerald and the Ventura, as they adapt very well and are easy to transport, so these are the ones we will start shipping next season," affirms Fukuzaki.
"With our plans, in 2017 we could export about 200 tonnes, and in 2019 we would reach more than 1 million kilos. We are in an area with the right climate for the production of blueberries, and soil management, which is one of the main factors, is under control. These crops open up a trading window, mainly thanks to their prices in markets like the US and Europe, so Peruvians are taking it very seriously," concludes the representative of the Peruvian company.
