Looking at Poland's most important trading partners, the trade with Belarus recorded the biggest increase in terms of value compared with the first quarter last year. In the first quarter of 2016, Polish sales to that country increased by 57 percent, reaching 93 million Euro, while in the first quarter of 2015, this figure stood at 59 million.
Meanwhile, food trade with Russia, which is probably the main recipient of apples from Belarus, is dying. While a year ago, Russia still stood 14th in the ranking of largest recipients of Polish food, after the first quarter of 2016 it has dropped to 17th place.
Compared to the first quarter of 2015, the value of sales to the Russian market has dropped by about 10 percent.
