Normally, the weather in China is hot. Especially in the South of China where it has a humid and hot climate. The weather makes water melons a desired treat and dispirits the demand for cold storage apples. Conversely, early ripe apples are popular in demand. The amount on sale isn't large, with few sources to supply fresh produce. So the price is high.
Related to the focus on early-ripe apples, few customers and shops are buying cold storage apples. The cold storage is at a minimum with few sources for superb products. The quality of products coming from storage is also easily affected by the hot weather. Storehouses in Luochuan and the surroundings mainly depend on the initiative of fruit shops to take fruits from storage. Because the weather is so hot, the apples aren't stored easily either. Long distance transport uses cold storage trucks, so the transport costs are high. Few costumers in the south buy the apples, so the trade volume keeps dwindling.
