National Technical Committee on Food Industry of Standardization Administration of China formulated 4 national standards related to foods including “Canned pork minced”, “Luzhou-flavor liquor”, “Edible sweet potato starch” and “Stainless steel kettle” (draft for approval) and solicited public opinions. Opinions should be submitted before December 30th, 2016.

Notice of CFDA about further doing well in sampling inspection of food & drug safety and strengthening pro-seo and post-mortem supervision
Based on requirements of “Notice of the State Council about popularizing sampling inspection and standardizing pro-seo and post-mortem supervision” and “Notice of the State Council about printing and distributing key points for advancing streamlining administration & instituting decentralization and optimizing service reform in 2016”, CFDA issued a notice about further doing well in sampling inspection of food & drug safety and strengthening pro-seo and post-mortem supervision. It was stipulated in the notice that mechanism of random sampling of food and drug should be established by the end of 2016. Ratio, frequency, propulsion mode and realization form of sampling inspection were explicated in the notice. For law enforcement matters related to food & drug supervision, the requirements of “double random, one publicity” should be realized by the end of 2017.

CFDA issued guiding opinions about further urging large food production enterprises to implement main responsibility of food safety and stipulated as follows: urge large enterprises to implement entity responsibility and primary responsibility for food safety, and the responsibility of legal representative and persons in charge of food quality and safety; supervise large enterprises to strengthen process control for food safety risks; encourage large enterprises to popularize advanced international quality management system actively; intensify investigation of food safety risks; supervise large enterprises to fully implement active reporting system for food safety incidents; urge large enterprises to promote construction of food safety credit system; lead large enterprises to undertake social responsibilities actually; popularize food safety liability insurance actively; implement food safety regulatory responsibilities and strengthen organizational leadership for supervision of large enterprises.

Announcement of CFDA about further strengthening supervision of infant formula
In order to further strengthen administration of uses of base powder for infant formula, carry out formula registration for infant formula orderly, and guarantee quality level of infant formula practically, CFDA issued the Announcement No. 84 about uses of base powder and renewal of production license.
