Spanish industry sources and growers have reported that there may be a delay in the packing of artichokes this year. The cause for the delay was unrelenting rain which has been pouring in Murcia. Murcia is the largest artichoke producing area in all of Spain.
While it may keep the vegetable from store shelves for a little longer, growers say that the rain will make for better vegetables once it comes time to pack them. Consumers may have to wait a little longer to enter the artichoke season, but quality wise, it may be worth the wait.
