In the first part of 2017, banana exports had a moderately lower pace than last year. According to Agrodata Peru's website, from January to May 2017, Peru exported a total of 83,504,501 kilos of bananas for US $ 62,314,527. This is lower than the 91,030,710 kilos worth US $ 68,546,335 that the country sent in the same period of 2016.
According to the same source, the main buyer of this national product in this period was the Netherlands, which received 37% of the total shipments. It was followed by the United States (28%), Germany (13%), Belgium 6%), South Korea (5%), Finland (5%) and several other destinations that together account for 6%.
Among the main exporters were Appbosa, which made placements for US $ 6,253,000. It was followed by Queratotillo' Small Organic Producers Association (US $ 5,471,000), Pronatur EIRL (US $ 4,481,000), Agronegocios Los Ángeles SAC (US $ 3,856,000), and the Organic Banana Producers Association Of Chira (US $ 3,731,000).
