Every year, at the start of the autumn season, the Korean community marks a period on the calendar for marinating pickled cabbages, also known in Korean as Kimchi. Cabbages that are pickled in autumn can be eaten continuously during winter and spring. For Koreans, who believe that food can only be called a meal if kimchi is included, these pickled cabbages are the basis of every meal of the day. That being said, the price of kimchi has increased significantly this year. For many Korean households with a low income, serving kimchi with every meal has become a luxury. As a result, a 'happy sharing, celebrating kimchi' event has been organised in the Gwangjin district in Seoul. Volunteers help to marinate 10,000 cabbages under the guidance of a kimchi expert. The total value can reach 100 million Korean won (or a total of 590,000 RMB). All of these cabbages will be donated to people with a low income.
