According to the Quarantine and Inspection Bureau of Hebei, the first 7.2 boxes of bananas with a total weight of 1,060 tons have arrived at the container terminal of Qinhuangdao Port from the Philippines. This was the first time in the past ten years that imported bananas have arrived in China through Qinhuangdao. China is one of the biggest export destinations of bananas from the Philippines. Located between North and Northeast China, Qinhuangdao is a major hub port for energy transportation and also the distribution center of imported and exported commodities.

On 27, October, the direct navigation route between Davao Port in the Philippines and Qinhuangdao was officially opened, so Qinhuangdao will improve its service as an important port of imported fruits. There will be an estimated 8,000 tons of bananas arriving here monthly via this new navigation route between China and the Philippines. The bananas will be sent to North and Northeast China by sea and train, making Qinhuangdao one of the most important distribution centers for fruit imports in North China. In the future, more fruit varieties will be shipped here from abroad, including pineapples, mangoes and waxed apples.
