The Director of Agriculture of Tartous, Engineer Tayseer Bilal, said in a statement that the governorate's citrus production is subject to the Directorate's biological control program, which ensures that all citrus orchards are protected from pests with biological control methods, such as biological agents and colored traps. Moreover, the crops are provided with mineral fertilization and irrigation water following precise standards.
Bilal said that the acreage planted with citrus on the governorate amounts to 9,333 hectares, with a total of 3.5 million trees, of which 2.3 million trees are in the process of fruiting.
