Taiwanese custard-apples previously had difficulty with transport and quarantine procedures because the fruit easily spoils. Now, however, the industry has made a breakthrough and the first shipment is on its way to Japan. The Agricultural Society of Taidong stated that the custard-apple is difficult to preserve, but they have devised a method in cooperation with a team of specialists where the fruit is quickly frozen at minus 50 degrees Celsius and immediately exported. The fruit resembles a natural ice cream with an exquisite taste.
The first shipment left the country on September 12th and smoothly passed through customs.
