A few months ago, King Courgette® announced the implementation and start-up of its new 2020 Plan. Even though the company's strategic objective is to become the best zucchini operator in Europe within two years, the background of their plan is quite different: reinventing and restructuring the company to adapt to new market trends and the future of the industry.
After the creation of the Sustainability Department and its integration into the Spanish Network for the development of the Sustainable Development Goals established by the UN, the company considers it has accomplished the agreements related to its 2020 Energy Plan: "The management of sustainable energy is something that worried us for a long time. We studied a large number of alternatives related to the installation of solar panels, but these only allowed us to achieve a 30-40% green energy use. However, we wanted our energy to be 100% green, so we started negotiating a new energy plan with our electric company," stated Jose Luis Escobar Jimenez, the general director of the company.
The company's strategic plan for the future focuses on sustainability: "We've understood that the issue of sustainability can't be a simple fashion or a corporate image issue. The concept of sustainability is much broader and its integration from the social and environmental perspective within the organizations means, in short, innovating and restructuring companies to turn them into the catalysts of progress and change," Escobar said.
