Recently, a group of inspectors from the Ministry of Animals and Plants of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, visited Chile's pear orchards, packaging facilities and other related business organizations to further improve the final details of the protocol and enable Chilean pears to enter China.
Chinese inspectors visited LoAguirre's laboratory and quarantine station, as well as orchards and pear facilities in Coltauco and Molina and Curico in the Maule region. They learned about the phytosanitary certification schemes in these two producing areas.
The delegation also visited the port of Valparaiso to learn about the processing of Chilean fruit exports. In addition, they hosted a dinner party to get more information about Chilean fruit and agriculture in the country. ASOEX President Ronald Bown emphasized the importance of the visit and the opening of the Chinese market to Chilean pears.
