"The Chinese watermelon market is gradually warming up as temperatures increase. The overall price is quite stable in watermelon production areas throughout China. Out of all the watermelon varieties, the price of Unicorn watermelons is relatively high." This is according to Fan Shumin, Director of the Dili Renhe Specialized Fruit and Vegetable Cooperation.
"We provide a year-round supply of watermelons from different production areas. The supply season of Sweet King watermelons from Myanmar and Unicorn watermelons from Xishuangbanna in Yunnan begins every year around December and continues until April of the subsequent year. The supply season of Sweet King and Unicorn watermelons from Shandong and Zhejiang begins every year in April and continues until July. The supply of watermelons from Jilin and Heilongjiang begins every year in August and continues until October."
"As for the supply speed of watermelons this year, farmers were losing money on watermelons prior to Chinese Spring Festival [February 5th, 2019] and so their supply slowed down. After the festival, as temperatures begin to rise, supply is gradually picking up speed and farmers start to earn again. While the supply volume grows, the price of watermelons also increases."
"We sell watermelons under our own registered brand 'Xindi' [New Earth] through supermarket chains, wholesale markets, and e-commerce platforms throughout China. We are also looking for new partners to cooperate in new business opportunities."
