Two products, Bachman Twist Pretzels, and Joy brand Chutney and Pastes, are being recalled for the undeclared allergens, respectively, milk and sulfites. Anyone who is allergic to those ingredients could have a serious reaction if they consume these products. No illnesses or reactions have been reported to date in either recall.
The first recall is for Utz Quality Foods Bachman Twist Pretzels, sold in 10 ounce bags. The UPC number on the product is 0-77817-10580-8, and the expiration date code is JUL 223 199 ED. No other Bachman products are recalled. The pretzels were sold in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia.
Joy Gourmet Foods is recalling its Joy brand Chutneys and Pastes products because of undeclared sulfites. You can see the long list of recalled products at the FDA web site. Recalled products include certain sizes and codes of Ginger Pasta, Garlic Paste, Gol-Gappa (pan puri) masala concentrate, Ginger/Garlic Mix, Tamarind Concentrates, Dates and Tamarind Chutney, Idee/Dosa Chutney, Green chilly Chutney, Bhei Chutney, Chat Chutney, and Coriander Chutney. These products are in clear glass packages in these sizes: 8 ounce, 14 ounce, 16 ounce; and in 26 ounce and 32 ounce glass jars.
A routine inspection by the FDA revealed that the products, which contain sulfites, was not properly labeled. You can see the lot codes, expiration dates, bar codes, and product sizes at the FDA site.
If you purchased any of these products and are allergic to the respective allergens, don’t eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the store where you purchased them for a refund.
