Uruguay expects its citrus harvest will increase by 8%. Given their production volumes, grapefruits, tangerines, lemons, and oranges are the country's most important citrus fruits.

According to the forecast of the Directorate of Agricultural Statistics (DIEA) of the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries (MGAP), in 2019 the country will harvest 235,000 tons.

Grapefruit production is expected to increase by 56%, tangerine by 16%, lemon production by 7%, and orange production by 35%.

The country will export an estimated 90,000 tons, equivalent to 39% of the total citrus production.

However, this estimate could vary depending on the volume and quality of the harvest and the commercial opportunities achieved by exporters.
