In 2018, tomato consumption in Azerbaijan decreased by 4.9% due to a decrease in production volumes and export growth. Last year, the processing enterprises and the population used 401,300 tons of tomatoes, 20,500 tons less than in 2017. Tomato production (609,100 tons) decreased by 2.4%, and exports (172,500 tons) increased by 11.9%. According to the balance sheet, in the fields during transportation, storage and sale, crop losses amounted to 40,400 tons per year, about the same as in 2017.
