In 2018, the Netherlands exported 18 million Euro worth of fruit and vegetables to Singapore (5.6 million residents). The wealthy city-state located in Southeast Asia is very dependent on import of fruit and vegetables, among other things, as it hardly produces any of its own. The country's trade and regulatory policy is therefore aimed at ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality foreign food and agricultural products. Fruit is mainly imported from Malaysia (14%), the United States (14%), China (12%) and Australia (12%). The US exports grapefruit, oranges, strawberries, and apples.
