The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Lima stated that Taiwan had authorized the importation of Peruvian blueberries through the official publication of “The Quarantine Requirements for the Importation of Fresh Blueberries from Peru”.
It should be noted that Taiwanese blueberry imports amount to $ 13.7 million a year and that they import most of them from the United States and Chile.
Peru and Taiwan maintained a commercial exchange of 474 million dollars in 2019, 244 million dollars of which corresponded to Peruvian exports. The country exports different fruit and vegetable products to Taiwan, among which grape and asparagus stand out.
“Taiwan is willing to work with Peru in order to improve its commercial development. It would be ideal to have Peru's support so that the country enters the Transpacific Agreement (CPTPP), the economic bloc composed of Peru, Japan, and other economies. It would be a more efficient and useful way to strengthen the commercial link,” stated the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Lima.
