Ortobellina will be focusing on packed unwashed baby leaves to promote a product that has lost some of its appeal over the past few years. They are destined to those consumers who will have to be more careful about prices from now on, but who do not want to miss out on practicality.
"As a company, we are trying to strengthen the packed unwashed range. So far, people tended to buy fresh-cut products however, following this emergency period, part of the families will opt for less expensive products. We want to meet their needs," explains Cristian Bellina.
By supplying excellent-quality packed unwashed products at a lower price than the fresh-cut options, "we are going back to our origins. The produce will be available as traditional as well as organic. Margins are lower, but we need to deal with the new situation."
The manager points out that, in 2009 and in the following years coinciding with the economic crisis, people went back to this kind of product. Now, with the way things are going, "consumers are once again opting for something that is ready to eat, yet inexpensive. Our packed produce must be washed and packets are clear so as to show the content. 100 and 150 gram certified-weight packets are available."
