The annual production of blueberries at Agrolein LLC in western Georgia, created with the support of the state, has reached 300 tons. The company is equipped according to modern standards and was established with the financial support of the state in the village of Vartsikhe, Bagdat municipality. The fruit manufactured here is sold both locally and abroad. In total, more than 2 million lari (US$632,000) were invested in the enterprise, of which 419,397 lari (US$132,700) was a grant.
Agrolein has its own blueberry orchards on an area of six hectares. At the same time, the company actively cooperates with farmers who also have blueberry plantations in the Imereti region. As a result, quick cooling, sorting, packaging and sales can be realized for the crops from some 40 hectares in total. The export of blueberries from Georgia in 2020 amounted to more than 3 million dollars.
In recent years, the Georgian government has been paying great attention to the cultivation of high-yielding crops in different regions of the country. According to information, this means that, within the framework of state programs, the authorities are actively helping farmers who grow high-quality blueberries. The plantations of this culture are spread over several hundred hectares in the regions of Imereti, Samegrelo, Adjara and Guria.
