In the period of January to May 2021, Spanish banana growers produced 14,500 tons of bananas, to be marketed within the region of production. Another 115,000 tons were produced in Spain, but marketed outside the region of production. Prices for these bananas came in at €0.60 for the former, and €0.70 for the latter.
In the same period, France produced 1,000 tons in both Guadeloupe and Martinique to be marketed within the region of production, but 54,000 and 24,000 tons were produced respectively to be marketed outside the region of production.
Ecuador, Colombia and Costa Rica remained the largest exporters of bananas into the EU27.
