The heatwave sweeping through large parts of India has made vegetable prices skyrocket with some areas seeing a 25-40% rise in bills in the past 10 days.
The harvest, which usually begins in April, was pushed ahead this time owing to rainfall which came as a blessing in disguise boosting the fruit produce.
The pineapple market was quite stable until the end of May, but over the last ten days the situation has become increasingly rough, according to Mario de Goede of Nico de Jong from Rotterdam.
The export of fruits from Pakistan saw an increase of 6.37 percent during the first 10 months of current fiscal year against the exports of the corresponding period of last year.
Mainpat, in the Surguja district, will soon be making its presence across India in terms of producing ‘Temperate Fruits’ including grape, peach, pear, apple, plum and others.
