ASSOCHAM to organise conference on FP industry - innovation, application

Core Tip: A conference on Food Processing Industry - Innovation and Application is being organised on August 29, 2012, at Assocham House, New Delhi.
The conference will synergise collaborative efforts among the stakeholders such as technologists, technocrats, exporters, manufacturers and experts with R&D and new product developments taking place in educational institutes and research labs.

The conference is being organised by ASSOCHAM (Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India) and Food Marketing and Technology. The conference will deliberate on the issues for developing greater linkages to national and international markets.

The objectives of the conference are to have new food research and development strategies, create successful open innovation networks to stimulate fresh innovation and market linkages, bring together scientists, technologists and technocrats to exchange their views, ideas and experiences in the areas of food processing and ingredients with special emphasis on Indian needs, and work on the need to develop appreciation of R&D and innovation in the food procession industry. Other objectives include minimising wastage at all stages in the food processing chain by the development of infrastructure for storage, transportation and processing of agro food produce; and encouraging R&D in food processing for product and process development and improved packaging.

The focus areas of the conference are research and development in the areas of food science and technology; development of low-cost technology, utilisation of indigenous raw materials, bio-friendly, technology and food safety and nutrition; promotion of export of marine products, specify standards, processing, marketing and training; enablement of research on improving the nutrition level of the people especially children and women; development of quality control for food products to ensure safety in both domestic and international markets; endorsement of successful marketing strategies and business models; and work pertaining to export and supply/distribution chains.
