The World Packaging Organisation (WPO) granted Smurfit Kappa Bag-in-Box's Pouch-Up – winner of Starpack in the United Kingdom and a Packaging Oscar – the Worldstar Packaging Award for 2011/2012 in the beverage packaging category for the Manchester Drinks Cocktails Mojito and Cosmopolitan.
Since 1970, the WorldStar competition, WPO's flagship event, has recognised the innovative packaging of wine, cocktails and juices. This year, the jury – comprising 23 WPO representatives and one from the Internatinla Organisation of the Packaging Press – shortlisted 243 products from 32 countries in seven categories.
Registered and similarly-packaged products were products, and those considered superior in terms of performance or innovation were rewarded. The Pouch-Up was chosen for its design, the performance of the film, its ease of use, and keeping in mind the eco-friendly trend, the fact that it has a low carbon footprint.
Available in 1.5 litre and 3 litres, all its surface formats can be printed in high-resolution flexo, which allows identification of the brand on the shelf. The innovative film and the Vitop compact tap ensure the barrier to oxygen, and therefore, higher quality and long conservation of the drink after it's been opened.
Pouch-Up is lightweight, unbreakable and convenient to use. Thanks to the Vitop compact tap, positioned on the packaging, the pouring is easy and safe. It is an economic, convenient and eco-friendly packaging which confirms Smurfit Kappa Bag-in-Box's efforts in the field of innovation and service for the beverage markets.
