Drinks giant Diageo is to unveil Johnnie Walker The Spice Road whiskey as the first of the three blends under Trade Routes Series for its Johnnie Walker Explorers’ Club Collection, to pay homage to travelers across the globe.
Johnnie Walker The Spice Road is an expression with vibrancy, aromas and spices. It is matured in old oak casks to form spicy and smooth finish. The expression is set to be launched only in duty-free stores.
Diageo master blender Jim Beveridge said the whiskey possesses spicy zestiness on the nose that is balanced by fresh citrus.
"The smooth, rich and honeyed flavours on the palate, warmed by cloves, ginger and vanilla sweetness, give way to a smouldering finish of the Johnnie Walker signature smoke," Beveridge added.
Diageo Global Travel and Middle East marketing director Steve White said the spirit is a good companion for today's travelers.
Johnnie Walker The Spice Road will be initially available in duty-free stores in Europe, the Middle East and Australia from December 2012 and globally from January 2013, where it will be sold at a recommended retail price of $43.
Diageo further plans to release the second and third expressions under the Trade Routes Series - Johnnie Walker The Gold Route and Johnnie Walker The Royal Route - in duty free stores in 2013.
