American brewery Schell's Brewing has introduced a new six-month seasonal beer, inspired by the beer styles of Germany's Upper Franconia.
The new German-style lager, called Chimney Sweep, is a smoky and chocolaty flavor with dark color appearance and creamy head, reported NUjournal.
Schell's brewmaster Jace Marti was quoted by the website as saying that he created the new variety based on the experience during his stay in Germany's Upper Franconia, where three beer styles - a "Rauch," or smoked lager, a Dunkel (dark) lager and a Schwartz (black) lager are commonly featured.
"Chimney Sweep is a combination of the three styles," said Marti during an event organized by the company.
The brewmaster brought six different styles of German malts, and two American hops to fill in the new variety with maltiness with dark chocolate and coffee notes.
Schell got the malt roasted over an open fire to help Chimney Sweep to attain a smoky flavor.
The new beer, which is currently available in stores, will be sold up to March 2013.
