Russia-based company City has filed an application to produce alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages under ‘Oppah Gangnam Style’ trademark.
The company filed an application with the Russian patent agency to produce beverages ranging from vodka and cocktails to standard, G-rated drinks and juices under the trademark.
The trademark rights to the Gangnam Style music belongs to Psy, a rapper.
In August 2012, a South Korean firm YG Entertainment also filed an application to use 'Gangnam Style' trademark in the US for its list of goods ranging from toys to clothes but did not include beverages in the list. Woobo International has reportedly filed an application to use "Gangnam Style" trademark on its beverages in the US, reported Rt.com.
Russian patent agency Rospatent has said that the use of Psy's trademark issue in Russia has, however, not been settled yet.
