Cucumber and courgette prices down due to low demand

Over the past week, the slowdown in exports due to the recent Christmas holidays has had an impact on prices. The vegetables suffering the sharpest price drops are long cucumbers and courgettes.

The value of courgettes stands at 40 to 60 euro cents, while just a week ago prices reached 1.40 Euro per kilo. Long cucumbers are on average 30 cents, the French variety is valued at 60 to 70 cents and short black cucumbers have registered prices ranging between 20 and 45 cents per kilo. The price of striped aubergines remains at 1 to 1.40 Euro per kilo and long aubergines had an initial price of 1.10 Euro, down to 80 cents per kilo in auctions.

Pepper prices continue to increase due to the halt in production and consequent low market supply. The price increase is particularly noteworthy in the Italian variety, registering up to 1.90 Euro per kilo. Green Lamuyo peppers are valued at 70 cents to 1.10 Euro, while the red Lamuyo ranges between 90 cents and 1,20 Euro per kilo. Yellow California peppers remain stable, with prices standing at 50 to 70 cents per kilo; the red California has an average price of 80 cents and the green California ranges between 60 and 75 euro cents per kilo.

Meanwhile, the price of green beans remains high in most cases. Long Perona beans had an initial price of 2.10 Euro, down to 1.50 Euro in auctions. The Strike stands at an average of 4.10 Euro and the Perona semi registered average prices of 1.40 Euro per kilo. Tomato prices remain at moderate levels, with the on the vine variety averaging 40 to 60 cents, the pear standing at 45 cents and the red long life variety ranging between 30 and 55 euro cents per kilo.
