Bidding on the 650 lots will remain open until 26 February and is expected to realise over US$400,000.
Having launched last year, this is the fourth Christie’s online auction dedicated to fine and rare wines.
The sale is filled with Burgundy from the 1985, 1999 and 2002 vintages, Bordeaux from the 60s and 70s, “pristine Italian rarities”, from Piedmont, Tuscany and Veneto and top Californian wines such as Harlan Estate.
Christie’s head of wine in New York, Per Holmberg, said: “We are delighted to start off the spring wine season at Christie’s with this carefully-curated selection of fine and rare wines of remarkable quality. Whether you are partial to wines of the Old World or the New, this sale offers a wealth of exciting ways to expand your wine collection and entertain family and friends this spring,”
“Our inaugural season of Internet-exclusive wine sales was greeted with great enthusiasm from both new and established clients worldwide, and we look forward to hosting a full roster of traditional live and online-only wine auctions this spring.”
