Swiss food company Nestlé has announced that it has halted beef supplies from a Spanish supplier Servocar after tests found that the products contained traces of horse DNA.

Following this development, the company is recalling the following products in Spain: Fusilli boloñesa Buitoni, Canelones microondas La Cocinera, Empanada gallega de carne La Cocinera, Relleno de carne La Cocinera, Gratén de berenjenas la Cocinera and Empanadillas de carne La Cocinera.

Nestlé said that in the first week of its new testing program, the company carried out several separate analyzes of beef supplied and finished products and so far it has covered about 70% of the products it manufactures in Europe, it added.

Earlier this month, Nestlé recalled beef pasta meals from shelves in Italy and Spain after tests found traces of horse DNA in two beef products supplied by a German firm HJ Schypke, a subcontractor of Nestle supplier JBS Toledo.
